Meet Carly – Founder & Force Behind the Movement

Carly started as a support worker in regional NSW, learning firsthand just how complex, skilled, and deeply human this work really is. That early experience sparked something big - a fierce drive to raise the standard and rewrite the narrative of support work in Australia.

Now a qualified Occupational Therapist with over 18 years in the disability space, Carly has spent her career walking alongside people with complex needs and the professionals who support them. She also founded and leads a multidisciplinary allied health team built on inclusion, respect, and career growth - because nobody should have to choose between family and a meaningful job.

Carly founded SWAA to give support workers the recognition, training, and community they’ve always deserved. She’s here to shake things up, challenge the status quo, and build a future where support work is seen for what it is: real, skilled, essential work.

Outside of SWAA, Carly is a proud mum of five in a blended family, dog lover, and a wanna be surfer. She volunteers as an educator with Taking Paediatrics Abroad and serves on the committee for Wheelchair Sports for Kids — because inclusion, advocacy, and access should never be optional.

This isn’t just a job for Carly — it’s personal. And it’s a movement she’s inviting you to be part of.

We believe true innovation happens when no one is left behind.
